Who this service is for
- Offices with 5–50 people where the files, the accounting software or the email live on one computer "under the desk".

- Growing companies that need virtual machines, remote access and more storage.
- NIS2 entities that must demonstrate backup, recovery and business continuity (Art. 22(2), item 3 of the Bulgarian Cybersecurity Act).

How we work
Free survey and inventory
what you have, who uses what, where the data is, whether there is a backup.
Design and quote
a solution and a budget; if the cloud is better value, we say so.
Installation and migration
on a schedule that does not stop your work (evenings or Saturdays).
Backup and test
the first restore is done together, so you can see that it works.
Monitoring and support
on request or under managed IT support.
Do not know when the last backup was made? Book a survey — we will check it in one conversation.
Does a small company need its own server or the cloud?
It depends on what you use and how fast your connection is. The cloud (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and others) is better for email, documents and teams in different places. Your own server or NAS is better for large files, local applications (accounting, stock), video recordings and when you want the data physically on your premises. Often the best answer is a combination.
| Item | Own server / NAS | Cloud |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | One-off purchase + maintenance | Monthly subscription per user |
| Speed in the office | High — local network | Depends on the internet |
| Works without internet | Yes | No |
| Responsibility for hardware | Yours (or your support provider's) | The provider's |
| Backup | Must be organised | Partly included — check exactly what |
| Best for | Large files, local applications, cameras | Email, documents, distributed teams |
Proxmox, Hyper-V, NAS and file servers with snapshots
NodePoint builds servers with virtualisation — Proxmox VE or Microsoft Hyper-V — so that several separate systems run on one physical server: a file server, accounting software, a domain, cameras. Individual virtual machines are backed up and restored separately, and when the hardware is replaced they are moved without reinstallation.
For shared files and backups, a Synology or QNAP NAS is often enough. We build file servers with ZFS or Btrfs snapshots: the system keeps point-in-time copies of folders, so a file that was deleted or encrypted by ransomware can be restored to its state from hours or days earlier. A snapshot does not replace an off-server backup, but it resolves most everyday incidents within minutes.
Server design and installation
A server is designed around the data and around how long the company can manage without it. NodePoint determines the capacity with room for growth, disk redundancy (RAID), the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and where the server will be located. The server is installed with a minimum of open services, separate administrator accounts and two-factor authentication for remote access.
What is server monitoring?
Server monitoring is continuous, automated observation of a server's condition — drives, memory, temperature, services, backups and updates — with an alert whenever something deviates. The aim is to spot a problem before it stops work: a failing drive is replaced while it is still running, and a failed backup is fixed the same day.
NodePoint sets up the monitoring and responds to alerts as agreed — as standard during business hours and, under agreed conditions, 24/7. Monitoring can be part of managed IT support.
How should a company back up its data?
The 3-2-1 rule is the standard: 3 copies of the data, on 2 different media, 1 of them off-site or offline. The offline copy protects against ransomware — the malware that encrypts the server also encrypts the drives connected to it.
A backup that has not been tested is not a backup. NodePoint tests the restoration of files and of entire systems, so that you know how long it will take in a real situation. For entities covered by the Bulgarian Cybersecurity Act, backup and recovery are an explicit measure (Art. 22(2), item 3).
Server support and repair
NodePoint maintains servers — updates, users, permissions, disk space — and repairs them: replacing drives and power supplies, rebuilding RAID arrays, recovering after a crash or an attack. In an emergency, call +359 887 975 180. Outside business hours we respond under a 24/7 support contract.
How much does a server for a small office cost?
The price depends on the number of users, the volume of data, the need for virtualisation and the redundancy requirement (how long you can manage without the server). Backup (drives or cloud storage) and support come on top. Hardware prices change often, so NodePoint does not publish a price list; instead we quote hardware, labour and monthly support separately, so that you can compare. The survey is free.
Frequently asked questions about servers
How often should business data be backed up?
At least once a day for data that changes daily — accounting, documents, email. The frequency follows from the question "how many days of work can we afford to lose?". If the answer is "none", backups run several times a day, and at least one copy is kept offline.
Who maintains servers in Burgas?
NodePoint maintains servers for small and medium-sized businesses in Burgas — installation, monitoring, backup, updates and repair. Monitoring and much of the support are remote, so we also maintain servers outside Burgas. Support can be on request or part of managed IT support, with an agreed scope. Call +359 887 975 180.
Is a NAS enough instead of a server?
For a small office, often yes. A NAS (network-attached storage) is suitable for shared files, backups and cameras, and is easier to maintain. A server is needed when you have applications that must run centrally, virtual machines or a domain with users and permissions.
Which virtualisation platforms do you work with?
NodePoint works with Proxmox VE and Microsoft Hyper-V, with Linux and Windows Server, and with Synology and QNAP NAS. The choice depends on the software you use, the licences and the budget — Proxmox has no licence fee for the virtualisation itself, while Hyper-V is convenient when the company already runs Windows Server.
How long does a server last?
Server hardware is usually used for about 5–7 years; after that, drives and power supplies fail more often and the manufacturer stops providing updates. What matters is not the age, but whether the server receives security updates and has a tested backup.
Can the server be monitored remotely?
Yes. Monitoring and much of the maintenance are done remotely over a secure connection. On-site visits are for hardware — drives, power supplies, installation. This way problems are spotted earlier and support costs less.
What happens if the server stops?
The work that depends on it stops until it is restored — which is why disk redundancy, a UPS and a tested backup are planned in advance. With a recovery plan, NodePoint knows beforehand where the data comes back from and how long it takes. Without such a plan, recovery is improvisation.
